IPTV

I got an opportunity to saw an advertisement about IPTV in Telephone bill envelop. I heard the word IPTV a month ago when I bought DTH, but I was not much interested to know about that time.
But in this advertisement they have given one toll free number of customer service of the company called MyWay who is providing the IPTV services for BSNL. To understand what is IPTV and the details about it I just called that toll free number expecting that there should be some automated system which will provide the details of IPTV.
Surprisingly one gentleman answered the call. He was very polite and calm and answered all my questions patiently. Gist about IPTV which I am giving here

IPTV which is the acronym of Internet Protocol TeleVision also called as interactive digital TV.

How it works
To avail IPTV we need a telephone with a broadband connection and one Set Top BOX. They will use a splitter to bifurcate voice and data and the data is connected to a Modem which has the facility for data and Video outputs. The video output from the modem is connected to a set top box.

Features
Like a DTH it is having all the features of EPG, movie on demand etc., In DTH the movie on demand can be viewed the time slots allotted by the provider. But in IPTVthe entire movie will be downloaded to our Set Top Box which is available for 24hrs. So we can view /pause it like watching a movie from our own DVD player. The quality also will be good as equal to DVD.
Packages
They have different packages and we can choose as per our need and Top up packages also available. But the packages are not having much of regional channels, which may take some time for them to incorporate.
Note: No data transfer charges applicable for IPTV in broadband connection. Voice and Data usage will be charged as per the original plan of the broadband connection you have.
